Hi, My name is Gwendolyn "Grace" Rene' Esswein and I was born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. This little town on the east coast is just right above Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. In the 1960's this was a little sandy beach hide away. Now Vero is a very busy place. Very different from the little town I grew up in. Both of my parents were born and raised in Georgia. My mother was born in north Georgia right on the Alabama and Tennessee lines. My father was born in south east Georgia near Savannah. Living on the farm was a way of life for both of my parents. - This Southern Culture followed them to south florida with Gardens in the back yard. All across the back yard. And Granny & Grandpa Gray helped to raise my brother Eric and I. They lived just down the street. And our other Granny Mitchell helped to raise us. They baby sat us all the time. And Church people were like family. It was a way of life.
A Good way of Life.
I wrote my first play about the Easter Bunny in the fourth grade. I showed it to my teacher Mrs. Berggren at Citrus Elementary School. She had me choose my actors for my play and we acted it out. That was the beginning of my writing career. I took another writing program and also wrote a poem that got an award. I recently took a more serious writing class and I also write music.
I like to write stories that invoke happy childhood memories.
